Media Vault
A media vault has to be secure. Your backup tapes are vital to your business should a disaster occur. Our media vault is a concrete extension to our records facility designed to be fire and storm resistant. Built much like a bank vault, the door remains closed and locked at all times. Should someone need access to the vault, a RMS employee stays with the person at all times. Nobody will have access to items you have stored in the vault except RMS employees.
Media is a fragile storage device. For instance, most media types only maintain their storage capabilities within certain temperatures. Extreme cold or heat could ruin your backups before you even know you need them. In addition, humidity is a factor in the durability of most mediums. A large amount of humidity can also ruin your backups. The Records Management Services media vault is designed to be temperature and humidity controlled. The controls for the humidity and temperature are located in the vault and run on a separate system than the rest of our facility. In addition, the conditions in the vault are constantly being monitored through our alarm system. Should the temperature or humidity reach levels that are outside of the parameters provided, the alarm system will alert the monitoring service, which will in turn alert us. If it is after hours, they will proceed through a call list until they reach someone capable of determining the problem and providing an answer. You can rely on Records Management Services to return your backups to you in good shape and ready to be used if needed.
A media vault program is more than just a place to store your vital backups and data. A key component of our program is our pickups and deliveries. When you become a media vault client, we will work with you to design the best schedule that fits your needs and works within our framework of current deliveries and pickups. We will establish an approximate time when RMS will show up at your door to return relevant backups and pickup new ones. The rotation schedule, or what tapes come back when, is established by you. With RMS, you make the tape, then we come and get the tape to bring it to our vault.
